At VirtuEd, our mission is to empower certified teachers to build their own tutoring businesses and do what they love on their own terms. We understand that navigating the teaching profession can be difficult, which is why we’ve created a platform exclusively for certified teachers.
With our platform, teachers can easily invite students to register, set up a calendar of availability, collect fees, and meet virtually using our conferencing technology. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for teachers to share their expertise with students while building their own successful tutoring businesses. We’re committed to providing teachers with the tools and resources they need to succeed and to help make high-quality education accessible to all students.
VirtuEd was initially conceived in the spring of 2020 because of social distancing caused by the worldwide pandemic. When our children and teachers were no longer allowed to be physically present at school and sent home for “distance learning” it quickly became apparent that the level of engagement in education was going to suffer. For many students this would prove to be the ultimate challenge and so the need for additional support was in high demand.
VirtuEd has developed an easy-to-use technology platform that allows certified teachers to invite students to schedule a tutoring session, pay for that session, and connect via video conference. Certified teachers who are currently providing tutoring services or are considering becoming a tutor can now be empowered to set their own schedule, charge rates they deem appropriate, and have a simple payment process while easily connecting with their students.
Our teachers are some of the most important people in our student’s lives. Their passion for education is the foundation of what they do every day and will be a major factor in shaping our future. Simply put, our goal is to make it easier for them to do what they do best, which is to reach, connect, and teach.
While educational tutoring is not a new concept, the pandemic has shown us that we need to rethink how we can help students get the support they need to thrive in education.
At this point, traditional “brick & mortar” tutoring companies were challenged by social distancing. However, there were myriad online tutoring companies offering their services. Despite the many options available, the real issue we found was: who is the actual person providing the tutoring services to our students? Is this person a certified teacher? Do they have experience in reaching students with varying degrees of need? Do they know the curriculum specific to each student, which could differ based on their geographic location?
After asking ourselves these very questions, and many more, we decided that there is no better tutor than our students’ teachers! So our mission became connecting certified teachers with students in need of additional tutoring support.
